Felling & Dismantling
Tree felling/straight felling involves using specific techniques to cause a tree to fall in a single section and in a specific direction.
This method is limited to situations where there is enough space to carry out the procedure with no risk of damage to any persons or property.
If straight felling of a tree is not an option due to confined space then the tree must be dismantled. Tree dismantling is when a tree is taken down in sections in a controlled manner using techniques that are suited for the site and tree conditions. In some situations lowering equipment is used to ensure a higher degree of control. This involves lowering sections of wood with ropes and pulleys with a friction device. Using this method trees can be dismantled with no damage their surroundings.
At A.W Tree Care we are specialists in tree felling and dismantling. Our staff are professionally trained and experienced in these operations and can remove any species and size of tree safely and efficiently, even in demanding conditions. If necessary a crane or winch can be used to achieve safe tree removal from a particularly difficult situation. The equipment we use is up to date and LOLER inspected. All tree removal is carried out to British Standards 3998; 2010 and we comply with AFAG guides, NPTC and HSE when carrying out these works.
Please Note, a large number of trees in the UK are protected with Tree Preservation Orders (TPO) or may be situated in a Conservation Area. Therefore it is necessary to check with your Local Authority before carrying out any work. If a tree is protected with a TPO or is in a conservation area an application must be submitted to the Local Authority for permission to carry out work on the tree. A.W Tree Care can assist with checks and applications for work. Please contact us directly to discuss your requirements.
